ABILITY: Gravity & Time is not just a utility; it is a "Superpower" in your pocket. It is the first installment of the 'ABILITY' series—a minimal productivity toolset designed to give users extraordinary control over their daily routines.

This project redefines the "immersive experience" of using a timer. While conventional timers are mere tools that display decreasing numbers, ABILITY provides an experience where the user becomes a "master of time," deploying and sustaining a gravitational field to protect their focus.

The core values of the product are:

Providing a visual flow of gravity instead of dry, static numbers.
Ensuring "Continuous Immersion" by preventing the screen from dimming during focus.
Transforming "evaporating efforts" into valuable personal assets through statistics.

Project Background — Focus as an "Ability"

This project originated from questions regarding the "boredom" and "unfriendliness" of existing productivity tools.

The "Boring" UX

Most timers are visually static, offering no visual feedback or motivation during the concentration period. Focus should not be painful endurance; it should be an engaging state of flow.

The "Black Screen" Anxiety

Standard timers allow the screen to turn off mid-session. The moment a user touches their phone to check their progress, their flow is broken. I wanted to eliminate this friction.

Ghost Efforts

The moment a timer ends, the effort of that session often vanishes into thin air. I recognized the need for data that allows users to visually track how well they have controlled their "Gravity (Focus)" daily and weekly.

To address these pain points, I arrived at the conclusion: "Translate focus into the superpower of Gravity."

Problems Addressed

Visualizing Focus: The Gravity Field UI

→ Temporal Core + Physics-based UI

Instead of viewing time as mere digits, I implemented a visual experience where users drag a "Core" to set the temporal mass. The premium Deep Grey aesthetic minimizes eye strain while maximizing immersion.

Preventing Interruption: Persistent Display System

→ Wakelock Integration

I implemented a feature that prevents the screen from sleeping during focus sessions. Users can monitor their "Gravity Status" (remaining time) with a quick glance without touching the device, keeping their flow intact.

The Guaranteed Period: Native Alert System

→ Android Native Alarm Manager + Haptics

To solve the issue of notifications being suppressed by background battery optimization, I utilized the Native Alarm Manager. The moment the gravity field stabilizes (timer ends), it delivers unmistakable feedback through powerful haptics and deep ambient sound.

Capitalizing Effort: Focus Statistics

→ Daily/Weekly Stats Visualization

Every completed session is recorded in a local database. By viewing their "Time Mastery" stats, users gain a sense of achievement and the energy required for their next session.

Technical Decision Rationale

Flutter & Custom Painting Chosen to break away from standardized UI and implement unique graphics and animations that align with the "Superpower" concept.
Wakelock API Technically resolved the UX issue of screen timeouts, ensuring the user’s immersion remains unbroken throughout the session.
Android Native Alarm Manager Applied exactAllowWhileIdle and alarmClock modes to ensure 100% notification reliability even when the app is in the background or in power-saving mode.
AdMob (Rewarded Ads) - Energy System Instead of intrusive banner ads, I implemented a "Rewarded Ad" model framed as an "Energy Recharge." This ensures monetization is woven into the app's lore without harming the UX.

By going beyond a simple clock and allowing users to visualize their effort while enjoying a premium aesthetic, this project has evolved into a tool users want to use every day.
